Emma Sweeney is a member of the Association of Authors' Representatives and the Women's Media Group, where she served as president in 2003. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a BA (cum laude) in English Literature.

Emma has been in book publishing since 1983 when she began as a subsidiary rights assistant at William Morrow. In 1986 she went to Grove Weidenfeld where she was rights director until 1990. Since 1990, she has been a literary agent and was most recently an agent with Harold Ober Associates.
Emma is also a writer whose own books include TULIPA (Artisan, 2000) and AS ALWAYS, JACK.
Eva Talmadge is a junior agent with the Emma Sweeney Agency and a graduate of the University of Florida and the fiction MFA program at CUNY Hunter College. Before joining ESA, Eva was Emma's assistant at Harold Ober Associates. She is primarily interested in literary fiction and narrative nonfiction, especially cultural histories and popular science.
Justine Wenger joined Emma Sweeney Agency, LLC as an assistant this spring. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing. She currently works part time at ESA, is poetry and fiction reader for BOMB Magazine, and routinely writes short stories or long poems on the subway.
